Overview

In order to solve complex social problems such as COVID-19 and climate change problems, researchers go beyond the “interdisciplinary” framework among natural science and humanities and social sciences in the scientific world and work with social stakeholders. In recent years, there has been a need for a research approach in which research is planned, implemented, and disseminated in collaboration. However, in Japan, such a social problem-solving research approach is largely left behind by global research trends.

In this session, we will predict the 18th new social issue with a view to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and beyond that should be achieved by 2030, and present and discuss new research areas necessary to solve the issue. By overcoming COVID-19 and preparing research issues, knowledge, methods, methodologies, theories, skills, technologies, and approaches that will be needed in the future, next-generation researchers will become pioneers with positive dreams, hopes, and smiles. Aim for a society where you can study independently.
